About Me
Hi! I’m Laisa, and I’m an actor, writer and creative based in NYC. I'm deeply passionate about the arts, as well as arts education as pathways towards self-expression and self-discovery, which is why, when I'm not working on an audition or a personal creative project, I work part-time at the Whitney Museum as the Assistant to the Education Department.
Growing up in a predominantly Latine South Texas border town, arts and access to arts education were extremely hard to come by. In school, I was told following creative pursuits was a waste of time and not realistic. But I couldn't help it! As a creative, I (coincidentally enough) found myself infatuated with the vibrancy, culture, and magic that was my upbringing in the Rio Grande Valley. How could I avoid my dream to story-tell if my home taught me, so beautifully, how to tell stories? And now, as a New Yorker, how could I ignore what access to art education has granted me, and not want to share that with other young kids from back home?
I graduated from NYU Tisch with a Drama and Latine studies double major as well as a Producing minor, not only to add to my artistic toolkit, but to use what I've learned (about my identity, and about myself as an artist) and share it with other dreamers back home. Anytime I'm working on a project, this is what I think about.
With that said, welcome to my website! I’m so excited for you to learn a bit about what makes me me :)
